How to Have an Ekthetology Party

We have heard of a few ekthetology parties, which we think is awesome! There’s no real trick to having one, it’s pretty simple.

Before the party:

  • Invite a couple of close friends to your party
  • Let them know before hand to think of their “one thing”, so they can bring it
  • Give some thought to the location

At party, remember a few things about creating your submissions:

  • Only 18 years and above
  • Only one person in each image, group images will not be allowed
  • Just one thing! Although the image can be as modest as you’d like (using pose, item, and camera angle) the participant must be without clothing—even jewelry (though wedding rings are allowed)
  • Most importantly, HAVE FUN!

A couple of photography tips: • Pay attention to the background. Watch for room clutter and “unwanted elements” • Be sure to get enough lighting. Natural lighting is best • Pay attention to the subject, their expression should match their item, and why they picked For example: If a person picks a something and their story is about domestic violence, a big smile is probably inappropriate

Let us know about your ekthetology party experiences. We’ll continue to refine this page with your tips and pitfalls.
